Compliance in antenatal care of women in remote and isolated communities.

This descriptive research design was employed in the study to examine the compliance in antenatal care of women in the remote and isolated barangays of Pototan, Iloilo. The level of compliance of women when taken as a whole and grouped according to age, civil status and educational attainment was determined. Significance of the differences and factors that affect the non-compliance were also determined.  A total of 98 pregnant women were the respondents of the study obtained through convenience sampling. The data were gathered through a questionnaire which adapted from Basic Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Manual-DOH. The study was conducted in the remote barangays of the Municipality of Pototan. The statistical tools used in the study were mean, t-test and ANOVA.  The results revealed that women in the remote areas of Pototan have good compliance in antenatal care. There were no significance differences in the women compliance when grouped according to age civil status and educational attainment. Financial is the major cause in the non -compliance in antenatal care of women.  Compliance in antenatal care of women is an effective means of reducing maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality.
